A clarinet fingering chart is a diagram that guides clarinetists of all levels on how to play specific notes on the clarinet. The clarinet is a three octave instrument, ranging from E3 – C7.

This fingering chart will guide players on how to play different ranges of a particular alphabet or note. For instance, the fingering from E3 differs from that of E4. therefore, with the chart, one would be able to place his fingers and play what is correct. The chart would also help in playing accidental notes on the clarinet. For example, playing G natural differs from G sharp. with the chart, you will know the difference.

In order to produce accurate pitches, you need a clarinet in perfect condition, you need its mouth piece and you will be getting a reed. A good reed will produce a nice and perfect pitch than a substandard reed.

Embouchure techniques

  • Try out different reeds to find out which one that fits your mouthpiece and your mouth.
  • To regulate the force of the lower lip against the reed, develop a “pointed chin” embouchure. Check the position of your chin in the mirror. Place a finger against the front surface of your upper teeth and roll your lower lip over the majority of the fleshy part of your lower teeth. Push your finger down and off the teeth with your upper lip after stretching it on your upper gums. The chin muscles will be positioned correctly as a result of this activity.
  • Play with the pressure point of the bottom lip on the slightly thicker, stiffer portion of the reed by taking minutely more reed into your mouth. Do this by slightly rocking your bottom lip down the reed. The space between your top and bottom teeth will widen.
  • Do not bite the reed. Use enough jaw pressure to produce good tone quality and to prevent the note from being flattened or sharpened.
